Why use a spreadsheet

Sellers who run one campaign per keyword usually plan everything in Excel: the keyword, the bid, the budget, the strategy and how much to raise bids at the top of search. Then every row had to be typed again by hand in the Amazon console. Now the spreadsheet itself becomes the campaigns: each row is uploaded with its full configuration, with no retyping.

Where to find it

In the app, open the account and go to Bulk actions. Under Available operations, click Upload spreadsheet on the Create campaigns from a spreadsheet card. The Create tab opens in One campaign per keyword (batch) mode. You can also type "spreadsheet" or "bulk campaigns" in the menu search.

The spreadsheet columns

The Download template button gives you a ready-made spreadsheet. Each row is one campaign:

ColumnWhat to fill in
KeywordThe campaign's keyword, e.g. clothesline rope
Match typeexact, phrase or broad
BidThe keyword bid, e.g. 0.41
BudgetThe campaign's daily budget, e.g. 10
StrategyDynamic: up and down · Dynamic: down only · Fixed bid
Top %, Rest %, Product %How much to raise the bid at the top of search, the rest of search and on product pages
Start and EndCampaign dates (a blank end date = no end date)
NameOptional. If blank, the name follows the template set on the screen

You can use your own spreadsheet: columns are read by name, in any order, and extra columns are ignored. A blank field uses the batch default you set on the screen.

Step by step

  1. Product: pick the product by ASIN, SKU or name. Every campaign in the spreadsheet advertises that product.
  2. Batch default: set what applies to fields left blank in the spreadsheet.
  3. Download template: open it in Excel and fill in one row per campaign.
  4. Import spreadsheet: upload the file (XLSX or CSV). Each row shows up in the table already filled in; adjust anything you want for that campaign only.
  5. See preview: the summary shows how many campaigns will be created, how many were skipped (a repeated keyword, or one already live on the product with the same match type) and how many have errors, with the reason.
  6. Create: confirm. Campaigns are created live in your Amazon Ads account and logged in the Bulk actions History.

No spreadsheet: paste the rows

If the list is already copied, paste the rows straight into the keywords box and click Add to list. The same format works, separated by commas or semicolons:

clothesline rope,exact,0.41,10,Dynamic: up and down,10,0,0

That row creates the campaign clothesline rope in exact match, with a 0.41 bid, a daily budget of 10, a dynamic up-and-down strategy and +10% at the top of search.
