Product Validation: test the idea before you pay the factory.
Describe the product, the price and the cost. In about a minute you see who already sells something similar, whether a few brands own the market, what's left after real Amazon fees, the maximum you can pay your supplier and a verdict. Works on Amazon US and Brazil.
Product Validation · see it in action
Test the idea before your first order.
The concept becomes a verdict backed by market data, margin and real fees, and the comparison with the leaders shows what shoppers complain about and where your edge is.

What it is and who it's for
It lives under Competitive → Product Research → Product Validation, the third mode on the screen, next to search by filters and by keyword. Works on Amazon US and Brazil.
It's for anyone launching a private label, importing or sourcing a new product who wants to know, before the first purchase order, whether the idea can stand up to the competition and whether the numbers work.
The problem it solves
The most expensive launch mistake happens before the first ad: ordering a thousand units of something three brands already dominate, or something that's only profitable if the supplier charges half their price. Pulling competitors, adding up sales, measuring concentration and simulating fees takes hours per idea. Product Validation does it on a single screen, starting from a concept that doesn't even exist yet.
How it works
The concept
Title (at least 3 words) and target price. Optional: search term, category, unit cost, description and bullet points — the same fields as Amazon's US idea validator.
Similar competitors
Up to 10 top-selling similar products, with price, monthly sales, ratings, number of sellers, whether Amazon sells and Opportunity Score.
Market
Leaders' unit sales and revenue, median price, top-3 brand share, concentration (fragmented, moderate or concentrated), unbranded products and whether Amazon sells.
The math and the verdict
Margin and ROI with real Amazon fees, the maximum landed cost to keep a 15% margin, and a Viable, Caution or Not viable verdict, including what would make you walk away.
The result on one screen
A good margin isn't enough. In the demo account example, the product would make a 40.7% margin, but the top 3 brands hold 87.9% of sales and Amazon sells one of the similar products. The verdict is Caution, and it tells you what would make you walk away: a unit cost above the maximum landed cost.
To test a different price or cost, click Duplicate concept, adjust and run it again. Everything is saved under Past simulations.
Benchmark against the leaders
Product Validation reads what shoppers say about the 3 top-selling similar products and compares it with your concept — before you even have a sample in hand.
What customers say
The leaders' complaints, praise and improvement requests, with mention counts. For each theme, whether your concept meets it, partly meets it or doesn't.
Features side by side
What you have that the leaders don't, what's missing and what's the same, with up to three recommendations for the product and the listing and the expected impact of each.
Seasonality
The leaders' monthly demand over the last 12 months, with peak and trough, so you can plan when inventory needs to arrive.
US and Brazil
US
Complements Amazon's "Validate product ideas" with what it doesn't show: brand concentration, Amazon's presence and your margin with real fees. The fields are the same, so you can compare both, and the result includes the category's return reasons as reported by Amazon.
Brazil
Amazon doesn't offer an idea validator in Brazil. There, Product Validation is the way to test a concept against competitors, market data and real fees.
Fees come from your store integration, so the math is most accurate when you validate in the marketplace of your connected account. Optional: import the CSV from Amazon's Product Opportunity Explorer to see the return rate and niche numbers next to the analysis. Importing doesn't use simulations.
Simulations included in your plan
Starter

Professional
10 simulations per month.

Business, Agency and Ambassador
50 simulations per month.
The quota belongs to the company and resets on the 1st. Reopening a simulation doesn't use the quota, and failed simulations aren't counted. Out of quota? Contact EcomVision Support to unlock more simulations. See plans and pricing.
Ask Vision
In Vision, EcomVision's AI, type: "validate this idea: rotating stainless steel spice rack at $35, cost $9". Vision confirms the concept before running, since the analysis uses one simulation from your quota, and returns the verdict with a link to the full result.
Controls and limits
Read-only
Validating an idea doesn't change anything in your account or your listings.
Balance on screen
Your remaining simulations show next to Run analysis, before you use one.
Role-based permissions
Users with a read-only role can see past simulations but can't use the quota.
The verdict uses market data from the time of the analysis and doesn't guarantee sales. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.
Frequently asked questions
What does Product Validation do?
You describe a product that doesn't exist yet: title, target price and, optionally, cost, search term, description and bullet points. The app shows the top-selling similar competitors, market size and concentration, margin and ROI with real Amazon fees, the maximum you can pay your supplier and a verdict: Viable, Caution or Not viable.
How is it different from Amazon's own idea validator?
Amazon's "Validate product ideas" in Product Opportunity Explorer is available in the US only. EcomVision Product Validation uses the same fields and adds what Amazon's tool doesn't show: brand concentration, whether Amazon itself sells, and your margin with real fees. It also works on Amazon Brazil, so you can test the same concept in both marketplaces.
How many simulations are included in my plan?
Starter 3, Professional 10, Advanced 25, Business 50, Agency 50 and Ambassador 50 simulations per month. The quota belongs to the company and resets on the 1st. Reopening a past simulation doesn't use the quota, and failed simulations aren't counted. Out of quota? Contact EcomVision Support to unlock more simulations.
What is the maximum landed cost?
It's the highest per-unit cost (product plus freight to you) that still leaves a 15% margin at the target price after Amazon fees. If your supplier charges more than that, the idea doesn't work at that price.
Can I ask Vision to run the validation?
Yes. Type, for example, "validate this idea: rotating stainless steel spice rack at $35, cost $9". Vision confirms before running, since the analysis uses one simulation from your quota, and returns the verdict with a link to the full result.
Does the verdict guarantee the product will sell?
No. It sums up competition, concentration and margin using current data. It tells you whether the idea deserves the next step (sample, supplier, ad test), not whether the product will sell.
