What it is and who it's for
It lives under Competitive → Market by Category, for Amazon US and Amazon Brazil. The screen reads your account's catalog, finds your products' subcategories on its own and generates a market report for each one you choose.
It's for sellers who want to know whether there's still room to grow in a subcategory, who the leaders are and how far they are from them — before investing in inventory, ads or a new product.
The problem it solves
BSR tells you a product's rank, not the size of the market. Adding up competitors' sales one by one, separating brands from generics and figuring out who dominates takes hours per subcategory — and the number is stale by next month. The report does that math in minutes, with brands grouped and your position next to the leaders.
How it works
Your products' subcategories
The list comes from your catalog, with how many of your products are in each subcategory. You select up to 10 per request.
Market size
Monthly units and revenue, average and median price, listings selling 50+ a month and the subcategory's total listing count.
Brands and concentration
Each brand's share, the combined share of the top 3, a concentration index (fragmented, moderate or concentrated) and how much unbranded products sell.
Where you rank
Each of your products in the subcategory's sales ranking, next to the best sellers, with each one's price and revenue.
Example
You sell bath towels and rank 7th in the subcategory. The report shows a market of at least 8,850 units a month, with the top 3 brands holding 80% of sales and 17% coming from unbranded products. The leaders sell between $25 and $35. The takeaway: competing on price with generics isn't worth it, but there's room for a line near the leaders' price point. (Illustrative numbers.)

Frequently asked questions
What does the Market by Category report show?
For each subcategory your products sell in: monthly units and revenue, average price, active brands and each one's share, market concentration, the share of unbranded products, whether Amazon itself sells there, the best-selling products and where each of your products ranks.
Do I need to enter the categories?
No. The screen finds the subcategories from your account's catalog on its own and shows how many of your products are in each one. You just pick which ones to analyze.
How many reports are included in my plan?
Starter 1, Professional 3, Advanced 8, Business 20, Agency 20 and Ambassador 20 reports per month. Each subcategory you generate uses 1 report. The quota belongs to the company, covers all of its accounts and resets on the 1st of each month.
Are the numbers exact?
They're sales estimates that count products selling 50 or more units a month (up to the top 100 in the subcategory). That's why units and revenue are shown as a floor: the real market is the same size or larger.
Does it work for amazon.com?
Yes. The report uses your account's marketplace: Amazon US or Amazon Brazil.
