Costs per product and for the business, with automatic margin diagnostics.

The Product Costs page brings together the COGS of every product and your business overhead — rent, payroll, software, accounting — entered one by one or in bulk via spreadsheet. The platform automatically flags what's at critical margin, losing money or having its profit eaten by ads, with a recommended action for each case.

What it is and who it's for

Product Costs covers two things: the product cost (COGS) of each ASIN — the basis for calculating margin, profit and the right price — and the business's overhead costs, which don't belong to any one product (rent, payroll, software, accounting, travel), with a type (fixed, operating, one-off), recurrence, effective period and the option to allocate across products.

You can enter product costs one by one or in bulk: download the template spreadsheet (the full catalog or only the products without a cost), fill it in and import it back. From there, the platform automatically calculates total sales, ad sales, profit before and after ads, margin, ROI, effective tax and other costs, and break-even ACoS for each product in the period.

It's for sellers who need to keep costs up to date across a catalog with many products, without losing sight of which items have a healthy margin, which one is selling at a loss, or where ad spend has already gone past what the margin can handle.

The problem it solves

Without a cost on file for each product, there's no real margin — only revenue. And keeping COGS up to date product by product, along with business overhead, in a separate spreadsheet is easy to forget and hard to match against the result of each sale. The usual outcome is finding out too late that a product is selling at a loss, or that ad spend no longer pays off for that item.

How it works

1️⃣

Enter one by one or in bulk

Edit a product's cost right in the platform, or download the template spreadsheet, fill it in and import it back to update many at once.

2️⃣

Business overhead

Add rent, payroll, software and other fixed, operating or one-off expenses, with recurrence, effective period and per-product allocation when it makes sense.

3️⃣

Margin, profit and ROI calculated

Once the cost is in, each product shows sales, profit before and after ads, margin, ROI, effective tax and other costs, and break-even ACoS for the selected period.

4️⃣

Diagnostics and priorities

The platform automatically flags products at critical margin, losing money or with ads eating the margin — each group with a recommended action.

Example

You just launched a new product and haven't entered its cost yet. The platform flags "products without a cost" and suggests completing them through the bulk update. After you import the spreadsheet, the product shows up in the "ads eating margin" list — the diagnostic shows ACoS is above break-even, and you adjust the campaign before putting more money into it.

Controls and safety

🔒

Changes nothing on Amazon

Product Costs only reads your account's sales, fees and ads and uses the costs you enter — it doesn't change prices, listings or campaigns in Seller Central.

🛡️

Isolated per account

Each tenant enters and sees only its own account's costs — no data is accessible to any other EcomVision customer.

Product Costs vs. a manual spreadsheet

Manual spreadsheet

Keeping each product's COGS and your overhead in a separate spreadsheet, matching it by hand against sales, fees and ads to find the real margin — with no alert when something gets out of hand.

Product Costs in EcomVision

Enter the cost once (or in bulk) and see margin, profit and ROI recalculated automatically, with the diagnostic already pointing out what needs attention.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between product cost and overhead costs?

Product cost is the COGS of each ASIN, used to calculate margin and profit per sale. Overhead costs are fixed, operating or one-off expenses of the business as a whole — rent, payroll, software, accounting — that aren't assigned to a specific product.

Can I enter costs for many products at once?

Yes. Download the template spreadsheet (XLSX or CSV) — the full catalog or only the products missing a cost — fill it in and import it back with the bulk update button.

How does the margin diagnostic work?

For every product with a cost on file, the platform calculates margin and profit for the period and automatically sorts it into groups such as critical margin (below 15%), losing money (negative profit after ads) and ads eating margin (ACoS above break-even) — each with a recommended action.

Can an overhead cost be allocated across products?

Yes. When you add an overhead cost (fixed, operating or one-off), there's an option to allocate that amount across products, and you can also set recurrence and the period it applies to.
