Why change the column order
Everyone looks at the business from a different angle. Whoever runs advertising wants ACoS and spend right next to the campaign name. Whoever runs finance wants margin and profit first. Whoever runs inventory wants days of cover. With a fixed order, everyone had to scroll the table sideways to find the number that matters.
With draggable columns, you set up the table once, the way you read it, and it stays that way on your next visits.
How to drag a column
- Open any table, for example the Product ranking in the Dashboard.
- Click and hold the header of the column you want to move.
- Drag it left or right and drop it in the new position.
In the example below, the Margin column was moved right after the product.
| ☐ | Product | Sales | Units | ACoS | ⇆Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ☐ | Product A | $4,200 | 84 | 18% | 22% |
| ☐ | Product B | $2,950 | 59 | 27% | 9% |
| ☐ | Product C | $1,780 | 41 | 12% | 31% |
Before: Margin is at the end of the table. Sample data.
| ☐ | Product | Margin | Sales | Units | ACoS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ☐ | Product A | 22% | $4,200 | 84 | 18% |
| ☐ | Product B | 9% | $2,950 | 59 | 27% |
| ☐ | Product C | 31% | $1,780 | 41 | 12% |
After: Margin shows right next to the product. Sample data.
Where the order is saved
The order you set up is saved in your browser. In practice:
- Reloading the page or coming back another day keeps your order.
- Each team member has their own order; what you drag doesn't change your teammates' screens.
- On another computer or browser, the table shows the default order, and you can set yours up again there.
When EcomVision adds a new column to a table, it goes into its natural position without breaking the order you already chose.
Columns that stay in place
Some columns are fixed on purpose, so the table stays easy to use:
- Selection (the checkbox on the left), used for bulk actions;
- Product, with the thumbnail, which identifies each row;
- Actions, with the row's buttons.
All other columns can be dragged freely.
Each column's explanation on hover
Along with dragging, every column header now has an explanation. Hover over the header and a tooltip tells you what that number represents. It answers questions on the spot, without leaving the screen, and helps people who are new to the team.
| Campaign | ACoS | Spend | Sales | Actions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sample campaign 1 | 21% | $630 | $3,000 | ⋯ |
| Sample campaign 2 | 34% | $410 | $1,205 | ⋯ |
Schematic mockup: the explanation shows when you hover over the header. Sample data.
Which screens support it
Draggable columns are in almost every table in the app, including:
- Product ranking, in the Dashboard;
- Campaigns and reports;
- Financial Reconciliation;
- Competitive and Buy Box;
- Marketplaces and Consumption;
- Bulk Actions.
A few screens with specially formatted tables, such as Dayparting and the P&L statement, keep a fixed order for now.
