Sign 1: access through SP-API, never scraping

The first filter is technical: the software should connect to your account through a registered SP-API app, authorized by you through OAuth (Login with Amazon) — never by asking for your Seller Central password directly. Since March 4, 2026, Amazon's Agent Policy explicitly prohibits software and AI agents that access the account by scraping Seller Central or automating the browser. If a tool asks for your login and password instead of an OAuth authorization flow, that's a red flag.

Sign 2: a listing in the Selling Partner Appstore

An app listed in the Selling Partner Appstore has passed Amazon's vetting for compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy and the Data Protection Policy, and remains under ongoing audit after it's published. That doesn't guarantee product quality, but it's a concrete, verifiable sign that Amazon has already reviewed how the software handles account data — unlike a tool that has never been reviewed at all.

Sign 3: status in the Amazon Ads Partner Network

If the software also manages Amazon Ads campaigns, check its status in the Amazon Ads Partner Network, which has three tiers: Registered, Advanced and Verified — the highest. Reaching Verified requires a minimum managed spend across multiple clients, product certifications for at least part of the team, and recurring performance reviews. Worth noting: Amazon paused new status decisions while it restructures the program, with a launch expected in Q3 2026 — so a partner's current tier may be temporarily "frozen" during this transition.

Questions to ask before granting access

In practice, three questions cover most of the check: how does the software connect to my account (SP-API with OAuth, or login/password)? Is it listed in the Selling Partner Appstore? If it manages ads, what's its status in the Ads Partner Network? None of these answers guarantees the tool is good — but missing all three is reason enough to be suspicious.

How EcomVision helps

EcomVision connects to customer accounts exclusively through SP-API and the Amazon Ads API, with explicit OAuth authorization — the same registered-app model the Agent Policy requires — and is a verified partner of both Amazon Ads and Amazon SPN, as the badges in the footer of every page show.

Update notice: Selling Partner Appstore vetting criteria and the Ads Partner Network tier structure may change over time — Amazon has already signaled a restructuring for Q3 2026. Always check the current official documentation.
