What changed

Before, Pricing could only simulate the products already in your Costs list. To test a new product, you had to build the math in a spreadsheet. Now you paste the ASIN and EcomVision runs the simulation, with the same 4 fulfillment cards as the calculator.

How to simulate an ASIN you don't sell

  1. In the menu, open Finance › Pricing, Calculator tab.
  2. Click Product (ASIN) and paste the product's ASIN (or type it).
  3. Below the field, Simulate ASIN B0… appears, with the caption a product you do not sell. Click it or press Enter.
  4. The field now shows the ASIN with the tag product outside your catalog, and the calculator fields open.
  5. Fill in what is missing (selling price, cost and dimensions) and read the FBM, DBA, FBA Onsite and FBA cards.

When you paste an ASIN your account does not sell, the Simulate ASIN option appears, with the caption a product you do not sell.
Product (ASIN) field with the tag product outside your catalog and the simulation notice, which says there is no Apply button because the product is not in your Costs
A product outside your catalog comes with a simulation notice. In this demo, Amazon did not return the current price, so the screen asks for the selling price (demo account, fictional data).

Where the numbers come from

  • Selling price: EcomVision looks up the product's current price on Amazon. If it cannot, the screen tells you and you type the price.
  • Referral fee and FBA fee: estimated by Amazon for that ASIN at that price. If Amazon does not estimate the fees, the screen warns that the lines that depend on them stay partial.
  • Weight and dimensions: come from Amazon's catalog. If it only has the dimensions of the unpacked item, not the shipping package, the screen warns you: correct them if the product compresses for shipping.
  • Cost (COGS): since the product is not in Costs, the screen uses the account's default COGS as an estimate. Enter your own cost to see a real margin.

Fees, logistics, tax and margin are calculated just as for your own products.

What does not exist in this mode

Since the product is not in your Costs, there is nowhere to save the choice. So:

When to use it

  • Before buying the first batch: compare FBM, DBA, FBA Onsite and FBA at the price you plan to charge.
  • To understand a competitor: see what would be left for you selling a similar product at their price.
  • To choose between candidates: simulate several ASINs, one after the other, and keep the one with the best margin.
